Located just 12 km from Kurau Inn Farmstay, the Kuala Gula Bird Sanctuary was established in 1970 by the Wildlife and National Parks Department to protect migratory and resident bird species. The sanctuary has been recognized for its natural beauty and won the “Best Tourist Attraction (Natural Attraction)” award during the Malaysia Tourism Awards.
The park’s mudflat area serves as a stopover for migratory birds to feed and rest during their journey between the northern and southern hemispheres. From September to April each year, Kuala Gula is home to 50 bird species from eight families, including the Milky Stork, Lesser Adjutant, Whimbrel, Lesser Golden Plover, Bar-tailed Godwit, Common Redshank, Common Greenshank, Terek Sandpiper, Great Egret, Little Egret, and Intermediate Egret. Approximately 200,000 birds visit the sanctuary annually from various locations such as Siberia, Kazakhstan, Japan, China, and Mongolia.
Kurau Inn Farmstay can arrange for an expert on migratory birds to guide you during your stay, ensuring a memorable bird-watching experience.
Sight seeing by boat in Kuala Kurau River is one activity that you should not missed..
Fishing has been a cherished hobby since ancient times, regarded by some as a sport and by others as an art form. Initially a means of survival, it has now become a popular way to combat boredom.
At Kurau Inn, you can enjoy fishing at our pond free of charge unless you wish to take your catch home. Experience the thrill of a bite and the satisfaction of catching fish yourself.
For those seeking adventure and a real challenge, sea fishing in an open sea is an excellent option. You can hire a boat with a driver for a fee typically under RM500, accommodating up to four people. The driver will guide you to the best fishing spots, allowing you to fish from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
