Kurau Inn

Things to Do

There is not a great deal of pressure to do anything here, which is rather the point. When you do feel like moving, this is what is on offer.

On the property

Fishing. Sit by the pond and see what turns up. Free for guests unless you take your catch home.

Cycling and trishaw rides. Take a bicycle round the village and along the paddy tracks. Flat, quiet roads and not much traffic.

Walking and jogging. The tracks between the fields are good early, before the heat.

Photography. The light over the sawah at either end of the day does most of the work for you.

Bird watching. Plenty about that you will not see in the city, without going anywhere.

Stargazing. On a clear night the sky out here is properly dark, and you can pick out far more than you can at home.

Worth leaving the property for

  • Ban Pecah — where the sea meets the rice fields, 4.6 km away

  • Fireflies at Kampung Dew — mangroves lit up after dark

  • Boat cruise on the Kurau River — 45 minutes on the water

  • Orang Utan Island — a day trip to Bukit Merah

Each has its own page with times, prices and how to arrange it.
