The Charm of the Rice Fields

Step out of the back door and the rice fields start more or less at your feet. Depending on the month they are flooded and mirror-flat, brilliant green, or gold and ready to cut.

White egrets work the water all day. Kingfishers turn up in flashes of blue, and eagles ride the thermals over the fields in the afternoon.

Late afternoon

Find a seat and stay in it. The breeze comes across the padi in the evening and moves through the stalks, and the temperature drops enough to be comfortable.

If the sky is clear, the sunset over the fields is the reason a lot of guests end up staying an extra night. Orange, then pink, then dark. Bring a camera.

Out the back

The fishing pond is yours to use. Cast a line and see what happens.

The swing is big enough for adults and gets photographed more than anything else here.

The viewing platform looks straight out over the fields. Good for photos, good for tai chi, good for standing still.

The barbecue pit sits among stone tables and chairs, with room for a group. The whole area is lit after dark, so an evening barbecue works as well as an afternoon one. Bring your own food, or order a package from us.

Coconuts and the pool

Fresh coconut water straight off the tree, RM3.00 a piece, and a swimming pool for when the afternoon gets too warm. Pool hours are 8.00 am to 7.00 pm.

The pantry

The pantry is at the back of the main building, and any guest can use it. It has:

• Gas stove

• Sink

• Oven

• Water dispenser

• Electric kettle

• Plates and crockery

• Tables and chairs

• BBQ pit

Ask at reception and our staff will open it for you. Please wash up and put back anything you use — everyone shares it.

Food you can order

Breakfast — RM5 to RM10 depending on what you choose. Order in advance by speaking to our staff before you check in.

Talam Kari Sembilang — RM80 a tray, minimum 2 trays. One tray feeds about 4 people.

BBQ package — from RM200 for 10 people. Advance booking required.
