Evenings here have a habit of stopping conversation.

The sun drops behind the fields at the back of the property and turns, for a few minutes, into something very like a glowing egg yolk sitting on the horizon. Some evenings the colour is fierce, other evenings it fades through soft pinks. Either way it is a good reason to stop what you are doing.

We keep plenty of seating at the back for exactly this. It is also where we set up for evening gatherings and events, so there is room for a group as well as for one person with a cup of tea.
